For any gardener they will know that having the right tools for the job is crucial. You can’t just buy any garden tool and hope it works, they need to fit your needs and be able to handle what you are asking of them. So, how do you go about choosing which tools should be on your list? What is going to be the best option for you? Let’s take a look at the top ten gardening tools.

Of course, we’re looking at a list of ten items, and one might assume that there would be more tools on this list. However, there are only seven basic tools required for any sort of gardening. The other tools may be necessary depending on your preferences, but they don’t make the cut. So here they are, without further ado…

Spade/ cultivator – This is an essential gardening tool. If you have a small garden, you’ll find that with a spade you can dig much deeper and you’ll be able to plant plants and shrubs at a much greater depth than you could if you didn’t have one of these handy. They come in different styles and models. Some look very utilitarian, while others are designed with the intention of holding a flower or a plant in place.

Gardening Gloves – These are useful, yes, but they are not on the list because most people wouldn’t consider them tools. However, when you are holding a gardening knife, then they become very important indeed. You need to be able to protect yourself from the blades of the tool you are holding. If you get a pair of gardening gloves that cover your hands well, then you won’t have to worry about that.

Pruners – One of the smallest pruning shears that you can get. When it comes to pruning, you need to go small. With a pruner you can get very small to get rid of branches that grow out of control. Don’t worry though, they still make very good cutters.

A Garden Spade – Now this is something that a lot of people would classify as a gardening tool. But in actuality, it is usually used for digging. But whatever it is used for, it is the number one top ten tools in my book. You can buy them new or you can rent them. Either way you will have no regret.
